MBX TAXONOMY
What Counts as a Mini Bucket?
The operational taxonomy Mini Bucket Exchange uses to distinguish core mini bucket collectibles, recognized variants and adjacent bucket-form items.
Core definition
A miniature bucket-form collectible or promotional vessel that is meaningfully identified by a brand, retailer, license, event, release, variant, or documented hobby convention.
MBX classes
- Retailer / Brand
- Promotional
- Licensed / Character
- Event / Regional
- Sample / Prototype
- Error / Recognized Variant
- Micro / Ornamental — adjacent category when collector convention supports inclusion
Normally excluded
- Generic unbranded party pails without collectible identity
- Bucket-shaped handbags or unrelated fashion items
- Ordinary full-size utility buckets
- Containers whose bucket resemblance is incidental rather than the collectible identity
Edge cases can remain documented as disputed or adjacent rather than being silently deleted. Taxonomy is a governance tool, not a claim that every collector must use the same terminology.
